High Fire risk persists as warm, dry conditions grip Belize

By Zoila Palma:  The National Meteorological Service of Belize has warned that the risk of wildfires across the country remains high, as warm and mostly dry conditions continue to prevail.

Satellite imagery over the past 24 hours has detected several active fires and hotspots nationwide, reinforcing concerns about fire activity in the days ahead.

The National Met Service noted that skies are expected to remain mostly sunny across all areas, with daytime temperatures ranging from 88 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit in northern and central areas and 85 to 96 degrees Fahrenheit in the west and south.

Relative humidity levels are forecast between 45 and 60 percent by mid-afternoon, while winds are expected to remain light, between 0 to 10 knots.

The meteorological service emphasized that the current pattern reflects seasonably warm and dry weather conditions, which are expected to continue over the next 24 hours.

Meteorologists continue to urge caution, as these conditions create an environment conducive to wildfires.
