Pomona Valley Habitat for Humanity celebrated the completion of its 50th home this week, a local milestone and one that “aligns with the 50th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity International,” according to a news release.

Supporters gathered in Chino Hills on Tuesday, March 3, to mark the completion of two homes.

“The celebration highlighted strong partnerships with the city of Chino Hills, local businesses, faith groups, and volunteers who helped make the homes possible,” the Pomona Valley Habitat for Humanity news release says.

Local leaders also came to the dedication event on Fairway Boulevard in Chino Hills, including Mayor Brian Johsz, City Manager Ben Montgomery, and city council members. San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman was also there.

The family who received the keys worked alongside volunteers, the release says, to help build their home and also to build hope for their future.

“This milestone reflects the power of partnership and the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live,” Executive Director Christine Charland said in the release. “Celebrating our 50th home during Habitat’s global 50th anniversary makes this moment even more meaningful.”

Since 1991, Pomona Valley Habitat has built or rehabilitated homes from Glendora to Rancho Cucamonga, according to the organization. Its next project will be in San Dimas.
