South Asian on study permit arrested after large drug seizure by CFSEU-BC in Surrey

Suspect on study permit transported to CBSA immigration holding centre

ON March 24, officers with the Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) of the the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) conducted a proactive traffic stop in Surrey, resulting in a significant drug seizure.

During the investigation, officers seized 3.5 kilograms of illicit drugs which were packaged in bulk and vacuum-sealed bags.

Officer processed the suspected drugs and the following was located:
* Total Fentanyl: 1.293 kilograms
– Purple Fentanyl: 517 grams
– Yellow Fentanyl: 260 grams
– Red Fentanyl: 516 grams
* Cocaine: 1.064 kilograms
* Methamphetamine: 1.149 kilograms

Two individuals were arrested at the scene. One of the suspects was found to be in violation of his study permit conditions and was subsequently transported to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) immigration holding centre. He remains in custody. Sources confirmed he was South Asian.

The second individual was issued violation tickets for speeding and received a seven-month driving prohibition.

“This seizure represents a significant financial blow to organized crime,” said CFSEU-BC Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha. “By intercepting bulk quantities of drugs at the distribution level, UGET officers are directly disrupting supply chains and cutting into the profits that fuel gang activity in our communities.”

This investigation remains ongoing, and charges are expected to be recommended.
