Strong Performances Underpin Successful Weekend for St. Lucian Boxers in the French Overseas Territories.

Saint Lucia’s boxing contingent delivered an impressive series of performances over the weekend, recording major victories and showcasing the island’s growing talent and competitiveness on the regional and international stage across the French Overseas Territories.

The action began on Friday, June 26, where rising star Nacham Alex extended his unbeaten streak in outstanding fashion at the Gala de Boxe – La Carré des Majors in Martinique.

Alex earned a unanimous decision victory over Jules Papin of France’s Mount Blanc Boxing 74, a performance that also secured him the prestigious Best Youth Boxer Award for the event.

The momentum continued on Saturday, June 27, in Guadeloupe at the La Marmite Gala, hosted by Gwada Boxing Club, where Saint Lucian boxers again delivered strong performances.

Debutant Seth Ethan Reneau of Mon Repos, announced his arrival in emphatic style against Bijou Blondel from ABC Intersport of Saint Martin. Displaying confidence, composure, and attacking intent, Reneau dominated his contest and forced his opponent’s corner to throw in the towel during the third round. The referee subsequently stopped the contest, awarding Reneau victory by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC).

Adding to Saint Lucia’s success was senior boxer Kyle Marcel, full of confidence and energy, produced one of the standout moments of the weekend with an emphatic second-round knockout victory over Charley Rolland, sending his opponent to the canvas and ending the contest in spectacular fashion.

Despite falling short in his contest, Danaii Cooman demonstrated determination in a rematch against Christopher Jeremie of Guadeloupe.

Meanwhile, Daniel Martin showed excellent composure and resilience against experienced opponent Máxime Alexander. Martin remained competitive throughout the bout but eventually lost after becoming fatigued in the third round.

Tristan Eugene did not compete due to weight irregularities.

Vice President of the St. Lucia Boxing Association Shannon Lebourne said “the performances across both events highlight the continued growth and development of boxing in Saint Lucia and reflect the discipline, preparation, and commitment of the athletes and coaching staff”.

He also congratulated the team adding that “Saint Lucia’s boxers continue to demonstrate that hard work, dedication, and exposure at the regional and international levels are creating opportunities and delivering results”.
