*Two landmark releases in Hip Hop history have officially been added to the Grammy Hall Of Fame, with Tupac Shakur’s “All Eyez On Me” and Eric B. & Rakim’s “Paid in Full” receiving recognition for their long-term cultural and musical influence, The Source reports.

Created in 1973 by the Recording Academy’s National Trustees, the GRAMMY Hall of Fame recognizes recordings that have made a lasting qualitative or historical impact on music. Each year, a specialized committee of seasoned recording industry professionals selects new inductees from eligible recordings that are at least 25 years old. “All Eyez On Me” and “Paid in Full” are widely viewed as foundational works that helped shape Hip Hop’s sound and global reach, influencing generations of artists that followed.

At the ceremony held on May 8, the moment was less about formal speeches and more about reflection on legacy. Eric B. acknowledged those behind the scenes who supported the duo throughout their career, saying: “Respect is earned, not given,” before adding, “I just want to say thank you to everybody. Our security team, the drivers, management team, everybody. If it wasn’t for y’all, it wouldn’t be no Eric B. & Rakim. I love you. Thank you again.”

The tribute to Tupac was delivered by Outlawz member E.D.I. Mean, who accepted the award on behalf of the late rapper. He opened his remarks with appreciation for the recognition, saying, “On behalf of Tupac, his family, the Tupac Shakur estate, his friends and fans all around the world, thank you to the Recording Academy for this incredible honor. Thank you to the Grammy Hall Of Fame for this incredible honor.”

E.D.I. Mean also reflected on Tupac’s legacy, adding, “I’m sure Tupac is smiling real big and saying, ‘I told you I was a legend.’” He went on to describe him as “a poet, a revolutionary spirit, and one of the most fearless voices of his generation.”

He emphasized Tupac’s ability to speak on struggle, pain, love, and resilience, while also acknowledging everyone who contributed to “All Eyez On Me.”

“Tonight, we honor him, but we also honor everybody who contributed to All Eyez On Me. I can’t overstate that enough,” he said.
