In reply to Jimmy. Nothing ridiculous about the idea at all: it's become quite common for councils to take over the running of a failed venue. Norwich City Council took over The Halls venue, Guildford Borough Council took control of the Electric Theatre last year and Westmorland and Furness Council took over Ulverston's "The Coro," for example. All sound investments to ensure the survival of community assets.
