The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation held a strategic working session with Canal+ Group to address the growing challenge of audiovisual content piracy and its impact on the digital economy and investment environment.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba, who received a delegation from Canal+ Group led by its International Chief Executive Officer and its Chief Executive Officer for Gabon.
Discussions focused on the economic and regulatory implications of piracy in the media and communications sector, particularly its effects on value creation, intellectual property protection, and investor confidence. Canal+ representatives outlined ongoing efforts undertaken in collaboration with relevant regulatory bodies, including ARCEP and the HAC (Haute Autorité de la Communication), to strengthen enforcement mechanisms against illegal content distribution.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding intellectual property rights, securing the digital ecosystem, and promoting a regulatory environment that encourages innovation and sustainable growth in the digital sector.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment between public authorities and private sector operators to intensify cooperation in combating piracy and fostering a more secure and dynamic digital economy.
