Two organizations working in community development have signed a new partnership aimed at supporting young people and promoting sustainable environmental protection in The Gambia.
The Papa Tunkara Foundation for Social Empowerment, known as PAFSE, and 4H The Gambia formally signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday, 21 September 2026, setting out areas in which the two organisations intend to work together.
The agreement was signed by Alhagie Papa Tunkara, Executive Director of PAFSE, and Alieu Ceesay, Executive Director of 4H The Gambia, an international non-governmental organisation based in Farafenni in the North Bank Region.
Bakary Saidy, Administrative Officer of PAFSE, coordinated the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, the two organisations are expected to collaborate on youth enterprise development and sustainable environmental protection, with particular emphasis on creating opportunities that can help young people become more economically productive while encouraging greater responsibility towards the environment.
For communities where unemployment and limited economic opportunities continue to affect many young people, partnerships of this nature can provide an important platform for skills development, enterprise support and community-based initiatives.
The environmental component of the partnership is also expected to promote sustainable practices and encourage greater community participation in protecting natural resources.
The signing marks the beginning of a working relationship between PAFSE and 4H The Gambia as both organisations seek to combine their experience, networks and resources in advancing social empowerment and sustainable development.
