Independent filmmaker, producer, actor, and director PoLo Jose is inviting audiences into a world rarely portrayed on screen with the release of Dissection of the Dollar, now streaming on Tubi. Set during one of the most uncertain periods in modern history—the COVID-19 pandemic—the film offers a raw, emotional look at survival, redemption, and the difficult journey toward a better life.

Taking place in New York City and Jersey City during the height of the pandemic, Dissection of the Dollar follows a man determined to leave the streets behind in pursuit of a safer, more meaningful future for himself and his family. Drawing from true-life experiences, the film explores the emotional and psychological toll of street life while emphasizing that transformation is possible, regardless of one’s past.

Unlike many crime dramas that glamorize street culture, Dissection of the Dollar focuses on the consequences of that lifestyle and the courage required to break free. The backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic adds another layer of realism, highlighting a period that many experienced but few filmmakers have examined through the lens of those living in marginalized communities.

“No one has really talked about what the streets were like during COVID-19,” said PoLo Jose. “For me, making this film was therapeutic—it gave me the chance to finally tell this story and what that life takes from you.”

For Jose, the project represents much more than another independent film. It marks the closing of one chapter in his own life and the beginning of another—one centered on creativity, purpose, and service through storytelling.

“This story needed to be told because it represents the end of the life I once lived,” he explained. “More than just a film, it’s a message of hope for anyone searching for a way out. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, it’s never too late to change your life. I know my story can inspire others to choose a different path.”

The release of Dissection of the Dollar also signals the continued growth of Jose’s independent production company, ALLways in Motion Productions LLC, which has become a platform for authentic, community-driven storytelling.

Rather than slowing down after the film’s release, Jose is already developing his next project: How to Make a Movie: The Making of Dissection of the Dollar. The documentary will chronicle the complete process behind producing an independent feature film—from concept development and screenplay writing to production, post-production, and distribution.

“I want to pull back the curtain and show people that you don’t have to wait for Hollywood to tell your story,” Jose said. “I’ll walk through every step—from turning an idea into a script, producing a film, and navigating distribution—so others can see that their vision can become reality. I’m also focused on finding distribution partners, sponsors, and investors who believe in meaningful storytelling. This is only the beginning.”

Beyond filmmaking, PoLo Jose has built a reputation as a multifaceted creative entrepreneur committed to helping others realize their potential. As founder of ALLways in Motion Productions LLC, he has produced seven award-winning short films, consulted on more than five feature films, served as a location scout for over 15 film and television productions, and hosts the ALLways in Motion Podcast, which is distributed across 38 major platforms.

His work consistently reflects a mission of empowerment—using storytelling not only to entertain but also to encourage transformation, resilience, and hope. Through Dissection of the Dollar, Jose demonstrates that some of the most impactful stories come from lived experience and that independent filmmakers can create powerful, meaningful cinema without waiting for permission.

Now available on TubiDissection of the Dollar stands as both a compelling drama and a testament to the power of second chances. For viewers seeking an authentic story about overcoming adversity, the film delivers a timely reminder that while the past may shape us, it does not have to define our future.
