By Zoila Palma: Councillor Aaron Mai has officially declared his candidacy for Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena Towns.
Mai has served as a councillor since March 2021.
After the 2024 municipal elections, he gained recognition as the lone PUP representative remaining on the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council after the United Democratic Party (UDP) won the other 6 seats and the Mayoral seat.
Mai, a renowned educator has led several successful community initiatives and continues to advocate for community development.
Mai has spearheaded many community development initiatives within the Twin Towns including the picnic table drive to assist schools among others.
“Without Clear Vision, the people perish! The time has come for meaningful CHANGE.
Change that will take us into a more sustainable future! Together we can,” Mai says.
Mai’s campaign says that the Mayoral hopeful has “The Master Plan to a greater San Ignacio and Santa Elena.”
