Ashly Robinson family not buying Suicide story as Zanzibar Police say ChatGPT fueled influencer’s death
According to the Zanzibari Police, the late Ashlee had consulted ChatGPT asking the online Artificial Intelligence (AI) responder for methods or plans and maybe the process on how she could take her own life.

Ashly Robinson, who used to be known as Ashlee Jenae the American influencer whose mysterious death in Zanzibar while on vacation is baffling heads, is said to have been talking to ChatGPT.
“She had consulted ChatGPT asking the AI engine how to commit suicide,” the Zanzibar Police claims.
The Assistant Police Commissioner in Zanzibar, Zubeir Chembere recently told the media that the case has been closed to that effect.
In a dramatic development of the case of the American influencer who died in Zanzibar under mysterious circumstances, the Police in the isles have closed the file with the ultimate conclusion that she had committed suicide.
According to the Zanzibari Police, the late Ashlee had consulted ChatGPT asking the online Artificial Intelligence (AI) responder for methods or plans and maybe the process on how she could take her own life.
At least, this is what the police claim to have discovered on Ashlee’s smartphone handset. The influencer’s interaction with ChatGPT is said to have been her final series of communication.
The authorities in Zanzibar went further to say that judging from the chats on the handset, Ashly or Ashlee could have been mentally depressed on the night of April 9, 2026, when she died.
Critics however, wonder how a lively social media influencer who was on her dream holiday and had just been engaged could suddenly become depressed to an extent of thinking about, let alone committing suicide.
On the other hand, the Family of Ashlee Robinson in the United States, said they did not exactly expect the Police in Zanzibar to do anything about the death of their daughter, according to the U.S based journalist, Cheyenne Corin.
The family, apparently, plans to issue another statement concerning the recent ruling.
So far, they are arguing that the police did not notify nor inform them about ongoing investigations and were taken by surprise when the final ruling from Zanzibar claimed that Ashlee committed suicide.
Ashly’s fiancée, John McCann who was initially the prime suspect, said the fact that the ruling acquits him from the case, it doesn’t lessen the pain of losing Jenae.
