In hip-hop, longevity is rare. Reinvention is even rarer. But Loose Cannon65 has built his journey around both.
The veteran lyricist first made noise on the national stage after landing the prestigious “Unsigned Hype” feature in The Source magazine, a recognition once awarded to future rap icons such as The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, DMX, and Mobb Deep. For Loose Cannon65, the acknowledgment served as proof that his talent and dedication could stand alongside some of the culture’s most respected names.
Before music became his primary focus, his aspirations centered around basketball. However, everything shifted after he became captivated by the legendary Wild Style Soundtrack. Memorizing lyrics and immersing himself in hip-hop culture sparked a passion that would ultimately shape the course of his life.
Determined to carve out his place in the industry, Loose Cannon65 embraced the grind wholeheartedly. During an era long before social media and digital distribution simplified exposure, he personally carried demo packages into record labels, refusing to let obstacles slow his momentum. That relentless hustle helped establish him as an artist driven by discipline, competitiveness, and authenticity.
As the years progressed, however, the business side of music began to overshadow the passion that initially inspired him. Rather than remain trapped in an environment that no longer aligned with his vision, Loose Cannon65 stepped away from recording and redirected his energy into entrepreneurship, business development, and real estate.
The time away proved transformative.
Building businesses outside of music gave him a stronger sense of structure, patience, and perspective. Those experiences not only sharpened his entrepreneurial mindset but also prepared him for a more focused and balanced return to music.
Despite his hiatus, the connection to hip-hop never disappeared. A deeply personal dream involving the late DMXreignited his creative fire and reminded him of his purpose. He also credits encouragement from the late Jam Master Jayas a lasting source of motivation throughout his journey.
Now back in the studio with renewed energy, Loose Cannon65 says he is creating music from a place of freedom rather than pressure. His upcoming project, BIG UNK, reflects the evolution of an artist who has grown through experience while remaining true to the essence of hip-hop.
Personal loss has also played a major role in shaping this chapter of his life. Following the passing of his mother and grandmother, Loose Cannon65 has become even more determined to fulfill the vision they always believed he could achieve.
In addition to new music, he is preparing for the release of his forthcoming book, In the Name of Hip-Hop, expected in late 2026. The book will offer readers an honest and detailed look into the sacrifices, setbacks, perseverance, and lessons that have defined his path both inside and outside the music industry.
For Loose Cannon65, the mission is now bigger than recognition. It is about legacy, inspiration, and proving that purpose does not fade with time. As he enters this new era, Loose Cannon65 continues to represent resilience, growth, and the belief that it is never too late to chase greatness.
