Rosalía Returns to Stage After Family Emergency, Tells Boston Crowd ‘Loved Ones Need to Come First’

Rosalía returned to the stage Thursday night (June 11) at TD Garden in Boston, where she addressed the family emergency that forced her to postpone the first dates of her North American LUX Tour, telling fans that “loved ones need to come first” before continuing with an emotional message from the stage.

“I had to be absent last week. Thank you for understanding. Loved ones need to come first,” she told the crowd. “And being here with you, I think that when something unexpected and painful happens, it can be hard to keep going. But I truly believe that this is worth it. And I thank you for coming. I’m going to do this show with all the love that I have. And hopefully there’s something in it that you can take with you, I hope. Honestly, that would make me happier. I love you guys so much.”

The heartfelt remarks came one week after Rosalía postponed the opening dates of the North American leg of her LUX World Tour due to a family emergency. On June 4, Live Nation announced that the Spanish superstar’s June 4 and 6 shows at Miami’s Kaseya Center, as well as her June 8 date at Orlando’s Kia Center, would be pushed back, saying the circumstances had left her with “no other choice.”

Billboard later confirmed that the Florida concerts were rescheduled for the fall: Orlando on Sept. 9 and Miami on Sept. 14 and 16. One of her two New York dates was also moved, with Rosalía now set to play Madison Square Garden on June 17 and 18.

Rosalía’s next stop is Toronto, where she’s scheduled to perform Saturday (June 13) at Scotiabank Arena.
