Three of the world’s biggest DSPs all separately announced on Friday (June 5) that “I Knew It, I Knew You” had etched a place in platform history following its release that same day. On Spotify, the pop star’s movie theme is now the most streamed country song in a single day by a female artist, while on Apple Music, it broke the record among soundtrack singles for first-day listens as well as became the biggest country track of 2026.
Plus, on Amazon Music, “I Knew It, I Knew You” had the biggest streaming day for any song so far in 2026.
Swift dropped the song on Friday after spending the week teasing her involvement in the upcoming Toy Story movie, which hits theaters on June 19. When she finally announced that she’d penned an original tune for the franchise, she wrote on Instagram, “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid … I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening.”
She penned the track’s breezy, nostalgia-packed lyrics specifically for the cowgirl character of Jessie, who is voiced by Joan Cusack. “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” the 14-time Grammy winner said in a post after the song came out. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.”
“I Knew It, I Knew You” marks Swift’s first release since The Life of a Showgirl last fall. The project spent 12 weeks atop the Billboard 200 and spawned two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 with “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite.”
The new song will appear on the official Toy Story 5 soundtrack, which is set to drop on the same day the movie premieres worldwide.
