NEW DELHI: REGIONAL leaders and stakeholders meeting in New Delhi, India, have called for stronger cooperation to enhance security and economic growth in the Indian Ocean region as Tanzania joins the 10th Indian Ocean Dialogue.
Opening the two-day forum held under the theme “Indian Ocean Region in a Transforming World,” India’s Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, stressed the need for member states and dialogue partners to strengthen collaboration in safeguarding peace and stability in the Indian Ocean amid changing global geopolitical dynamics.
Tanzania’s delegation to the dialogue is led by Zanzibar’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries, Captain Hamad Bakar Hamad.

The meeting brought together participants from governments, universities and the private sector from member countries and dialogue partners to discuss maritime security, the blue economy, disaster management, climate change, science and technology, and women’s economic empowerment.
The dialogue is expected to strengthen regional partnerships and promote sustainable economic development among Indian Ocean coastal states.
