A targeted police operation across several Castries communities has resulted in one man being arrested and charged after officers allegedly recovered a component of a firearm during a search.
The operation, conducted last Wednesday, May 13, involved officers attached to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, the Special Services Unit and the Central Intelligence Unit. The exercise focused on Wilton Yard, Grass Street and Leslie Land, where four structures were searched.
According to police, officers executed a search warrant at the home of Elijah Benjamin Khodra, also known as “Beh Ben”, of Leslie Land.
During the search, investigators reportedly recovered what was identified as the backplate of a Glock pistol, described as a component part of a firearm.
Benjamin was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a component part of a weapon, contrary to Section 22(3) of the Firearm Act. He later appeared before the First District Court for bail proceedings and was granted bail of $15 000 cash or suitable surety.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force says it remains committed to targeting individuals involved in criminal activity and restoring citizen security across the island.
