The Financial Times ranking of Africa’s fastest-growing companies, now in its fifth year, reflects this trend. This year, an Egyptian business topped the list for the first time, Kenya has overtaken Nigeria in the number of companies featured, and more non-tech firms are entering the ranking alongside established fintechs and startups.

South Africa continues to dominate, with 51 of the 130 fastest-growing companies. It is followed by Kenya with 17, Nigeria with 16, Mauritius with 12, and Tunisia — which made its first appearance in the top five — with 6.
