A victim of a road accident in Kilimanjaro region, who was being rushed to hospital was chucked out of the ambulance which was supposed to be taking him to hospital.
It is being suspected that his body was thrown out of the vehicle after he passed away along the way, that night.
The body of Ismail Amani Mbowe, a 33-year-old motorcycle taxi rider was discovered abandoned on a remote highway after the ambulance which was rushing him to thenearest medical center threw him out along the way, before speeding off.
A statement from the Kilimanjaro Police in Moshi, explains that the deceased had previously been involved in a tragic road accident, but was still alive when the ambulance took him from the scene of the crash.
Mbowe, a resident of Machame Ward, was reportedly riding a Sinoray motorcycle with registration number MC 336FHV, from Himo township, heading towards Moshi Municipality, in the night of May, 7, 2026.
Along the way, when trying to overtake a rickshaw, Mbowe who was probably also speeding, came face to face with a big Howo truck with plate numbers T-974 EHQ, pulling a trailer with registrations T-947 EJN.
The lorry, which was traveling from Moshi towards the Njia-Panda junction, hit Mbowe’s motorcycle throwing it off the road together with its rider who was seriously injured from the crash.
As people thronged the site of the accident as usual, the police arrived and started seeking assistance from other vehicles passing by.
Fortunately, as it seems, there was also an ambulance which was heading to Moshi.
The police waved it down and loaded the wounded motorbike rider on it, instructing the driver and the nurse aboard to rush the accident victim to Mawenzi hospital in Moshi.
However, it was discovered later on that the injured accident victim never made it to the hospital.
In fact, he was found abandoned on the remote roadside.
People tried to lift him and take the victim to hospital but Mbowe was pronounced dead before reaching there.
The alleged ambulance which was taking him to hospital was nowhere to be seen.
It is still not known if the victim was ditched in the wilderness, then died in the process or lost his life while being taken to hospital and the ambulance operators decided to jettison the body enroute.
