Anguilla’s Tri-tania Lowe secures hat-trick of wins in Jamaica championships

Anguillian athlete Tri-tania Lowe delivered a commanding performance at the Jamaica Inter-Collegiate Championships, sweeping gold in three track and field events.

Competing for GC Foster College, Lowe clocked 11.56 seconds to take the women’s 100 metre title, followed by a 24.34-second win in the 200m.

She then rounded off her hat-trick with victory in the long jump, clearing 6.11m to top the field in the competition at Stadium East in Kingston on 16 April.

The Anguilla Amateur Athletics Association congratulated Lowe on her “outstanding triple victory” in a press release on 8 May.

“These results reflect Tri-tania’s versatility, discipline and continued growth as one of Anguilla’s standout athletic talents,” the association said.

“Her ability to excel in the sprints while also achieving success in the long jump speaks to her exceptional athletic range and competitive spirit.”

General secretary Hodge described her performance as a “tremendous achievement”, adding: “To win across multiple events at this level requires focus, preparation and outstanding talent.

“We are extremely proud of her and look forward to seeing her continued progress,”

The association commended Lowe for representing herself, her college, her family and Anguilla with distinction.

“Her achievements at this championship are a source of great pride for the national athletics community and an inspiration to young athletes across the island,” it said.

In July 2024, Lowe broke Anguilla’s record for the women’s 100m sprint when she clocked 11.97 seconds at the 2024 Nevis Culturama Games at the Nevis Athletic Stadium.

Running against a headwind of 0.08 metres per seconds, she beat the previous record holder Desiree Cocks, who had held the title since 1998 with an 11.98 second run.

In September 2025 she represented Anguilla in the women’s 100m event at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, where she ran 11.59 seconds, finishing seventh in her heat.
