Chivayo Vows To Buy Dynamos A Bus After Being Branded “Thief” By CAPS United Fans
Wicknell Chivayo says he will still honour his promise to buy Dynamos Football Club a new bus, despite the Glamour Boys’ 2-1 loss to CAPS United in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on Sunday, 10 May.
Speaking on Capitalk FM last week, Chivayo had pledged to purchase a brand-new bus for Dynamos, but only if they beat CAPS United.
During Sunday’s match, a video of CAPS United supporters chanting that they hate Chivayo and Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, the owner of Scottland Football Club, and calling the pair “thieves”, went viral on social media.
However, in a post on Monday, Chivayo said he would still buy a brand-new 65-seater bus for Dynamos. He added that he appreciated the “overwhelming love” shown by Dynamos supporters.
“More importantly, most of [my] close relatives and friends are passionate Dynamos supporters, and for me this matter goes beyond football,” said Chivayo. “I therefore REFUSE to reduce myself into someone who only stands by his word when circumstances are FAVOURABLE.”
Chivayo added that, on top of the bus, he would give the players US$50,000 to reward their effort and encourage them, despite the defeat.
“The Club Management can IMMEDIATELY contact my Lawyer MR SIKHUMBUZO MPOFU and deliver the bus registration details.”
In his statement, Chivayo hit back at CAPS United fans who called him a thief, though he did not name them directly.
“Some people struggle to celebrate one of their own simply because he is successful or WEALTHY. None of that will ever change who I am or the values I stand for,” he wrote.
