A series of coordinated early-morning searches spanning two communities has allegedly led to multiple arrests and the seizure of a modified firearm and ammunition.
The operations, reportedly carried out in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, May 6th, targeted several private premises in the Freetown area and a working farm along Collins Road.
According to sources, the most significant discovery came during one of three search warrant executed in Freetown, where a modified flare gun, several rounds of ammunition, and a camouflage shirt were found at a private address. Two individuals present at the residence were subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of illegal firearm possession and conveyed to St. John’s Police Station, along with the seized items.
Further along Collins Road, reports are that a search of a privately-operated farm led to the discovery of two Venezuelan nationals, aged 70 and 39, respectively. The men were allegedly arrested on suspicion of firearm possession and are also being processed on immigration-related grounds at St. John’s Police Station.
The joint operations were said to involve personnel drawn from several specialised units. Investigations are ongoing.
