Cedar Grove Gunners and Phoenix rallied to game one triumphs in their best of three series in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Playoffs which tipped off on Tuesday at the JSC basketball complex.
Contesting the opening game of a double-header, Gunners were led by Scotty Nelson who sank 15 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench as they made light work of Navigators to win 78-46. Keaddy Martin contributed with 13 points and six rebounds while there were 11 and 10 points for Sergio Symister and Lornie Joseph, respectively. Joseph also bagged 11 rebounds.

For Navigators, Raheem Sawyer led with a game-high of 16 points while grabbing six rebounds. He had help from Ricky Willock who totalled 13 points and picked up 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Phoenix were also comfortable game one winners, claiming a 79-57 triumph over Fearless Crew in the feature clash.
Phoenix dominated the contest from start to finish, outscoring the opponents in all four quarters. Adrian Carnegie led the scoring for the victors with a game high of 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing eight assists. Shalom Bloodman contributed with 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
In a losing performance, Jesus Lopez top scored for Fearless Crew with 23 points off the bench. Joshua Morrison contributed with 13 points and 11 rebounds also playing off the bench. Emeka Emujuru-Oupe picked up 12 points and snatched 10 rebounds also in a losing effort.
Game two in both series will be contested on Monday.
