There are some places you visit and enjoy. Then there are places that instantly make you feel like you’ve been part of the family for years. That’s exactly how I felt the first time I stepped inside 4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge in Lewisville, Texas. As someone who travels often and explores restaurants, lounges, and nightlife experiences across the country, I don’t say this lightly: 4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge is one of my favorite places I’ve visited in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

From the moment we walked through the door, the energy felt different.

Everyone was welcoming. Everyone seemed to know each other. And by the end of the night, it felt like we knew everyone too. At some point, I looked around and thought, “At this point, we all family.”

That’s the magic of 4Thirteen.

A Black Female-Owned Business Built on Community

In a world where so many nightlife venues focus solely on appearances, 4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge has built something much deeper.

This Black female-owned establishment has become a staple in Lewisville because it offers more than food and entertainment—it creates community.

The owner was right there enjoying the night alongside guests, singing karaoke, interacting with customers, and making everyone feel welcome. Her daughter also works at the lounge, adding to the family-oriented atmosphere that makes this place so special.

You can immediately tell that this isn’t just a business.

It’s a labor of love.

It’s a gathering place.

And it’s a place where people genuinely enjoy being together.

The Best Karaoke Experience I’ve Had in Years

I love karaoke.

If there’s karaoke involved, chances are I’m showing up.

But what I experienced at 4Thirteen was unlike any karaoke night I’ve attended before.

This wasn’t one of those intimidating environments where people judge your performance or only cheer for their friends.

Here, everyone participates.

Everyone supports each other.

Even if you don’t know all the words, somebody is going to help you finish the song.

The crowd becomes your backup singers.

The room becomes your stage.

And before you know it, you’re laughing, singing, and making memories with people you met just a few hours earlier.

It was hands down one of the best karaoke nights I’ve experienced anywhere.

If you’re looking for karaoke in Dallas-Fort Worth, this should absolutely be on your list.

The Food Completely Exceeded My Expectations

When most people hear “sports lounge,” they immediately think bar food.

Wings.

Fries.

A few appetizers.

Maybe something decent if you’re lucky.

4Thirteen completely shattered those expectations.

This is real Southern cooking.

Real greens.

Real cabbage.

Real fried catfish.

Real yams.

Nothing about this food tastes processed, rushed, or straight out of a can.

In fact, one of the first things I noticed was that the catfish was actually catfish.

If you’re from the South, you know exactly what I mean. Some places serve white fish and call it catfish.

Not here.

This was authentic Southern fried catfish cooked the right way.

The cabbage was perfectly seasoned.

The greens were flavorful.

The fried chicken was crispy and delicious.

And those yams?

Honestly, some of the best yams I’ve ever had.

My friend ordered the peach cobbler and immediately declared it the best peach cobbler she’d tasted in her 35 years of life.

That’s a bold statement.

But after tasting everything else, I wasn’t surprised.

The food was that good.

Whoever is back there cooking is cooking with love.

It genuinely feels like somebody’s grandmother is in the kitchen making sure every plate leaves with flavor.

Strong Drinks, Hookah, and Great Vibes

The food alone is worth visiting for, but the experience doesn’t stop there.

4Thirteen also offers hookah, strong drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere that encourages people to stay awhile.

The crowd is diverse, friendly, and laid-back.

Many guests appeared to be regulars, which speaks volumes about the quality of the experience.

It’s the type of place where you can show up for happy hour and end up staying all night because you’re having such a good time.

Entertainment Every Week

One of the things that keeps guests coming back is the variety of weekly events.

Happy Hour is available every day except Saturday, making it easy to stop by after work or meet friends during the week.

Wednesday nights are dedicated to karaoke, and after experiencing it firsthand, I completely understand why it’s become such a local favorite.

Friday and Saturday nights feature live bands that bring incredible energy to the venue.

And if you love dancing, Sundays feature line dancing, creating yet another reason to return.

There is always something happening at 4Thirteen.

Finding a place that offers great food, strong drinks, entertainment, and genuine hospitality isn’t always easy.

Finding a place that excels at all four is even harder.

4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge manages to do exactly that.

Whether you’re a Dallas-Fort Worth local or visiting the area for the first time, this Black-owned gem deserves a spot on your itinerary.

The food is unforgettable.

The entertainment is top-tier.

The atmosphere feels like family.

And the experience is one you’ll be talking about long after you leave.

I can confidently say this was one of my favorite experiences in the DFW area.

And the next time I’m back in Texas, 4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge will absolutely be one of my first stops.

Some places are worth visiting.

Others become part of your story.
