Mauritania Takes Part in the 87th Ordinary Session of African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

On 11 May in Banjul, the 87th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights started in the Gambian capital, Banjul, with the participation of a delegation from our country led by the Assistant Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and Relations with Civil Society, Mr Al-Hadrami Waddad Mahmoud.

This regional meeting aims to discuss the latest developments in the human rights situation on the African continent and to strengthen cooperation between member states and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, with a view to promoting rights and freedoms and consolidating African solidarity in this field.

Our country’s participation comes within the framework of the government’s commitment to strengthening Mauritania’s presence in regional and international forums concerned with human rights, and to reaffirming its commitment to continuing positive cooperation with various African mechanisms in the service of the causes of dignity, justice and human rights on the continent.
