The 2026 edition of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival ended on a high note Sunday night as legendary R&B stars Brandy and Monica delivered a nostalgic, hit-filled performance that brought thousands of patrons to their feet. This capped what organizers are calling one of the festival’s strongest stagings in recent years.

The iconic duo closed the festival’s “Ultimate Celebration” with a powerful lineup of fan favourites, including Sitting Up in My Room, Almost Doesn’t Count, Why I Love You So Much, Have You Ever, For You I Will, and the timeless anthem The Boy Is Mine, creating an electrifying atmosphere at Pigeon Island National Landmark and sending fans into a wave of nostalgia as the curtains came down on the internationally acclaimed event.

Festival Chairman Thaddeus Antoine said the success of this year’s staging reflected months of strategic planning, stronger logistics, and a programme intentionally designed to appeal to multiple audiences while elevating Saint Lucia’s visibility on the global stage. According to Antoine, improvements to transportation and crowd management, particularly the expanded park-and-ride system, significantly enhanced the patron experience and helped deliver a smoother flow throughout the festival period.

This year’s festival featured a dynamic blend of themed nights and genres that attracted both regional and international audiences. Opening Night placed a strong spotlight on Saint Lucian talent before performances from Valiant, D’Yani, Asa Bantan, and Capleton, while the Pure Jazz segment showcased acclaimed acts such as Esperanza Spalding, Branford Marsalis, Jesse Billy and Chantal Esdelle & Moyenne.

Kingdom Night brought a spiritually charged atmosphere with performances from Tye Tribbett and Ada Ehi, while Caribbean Fusion energized patrons with performances from Skip Marley, The Original Wailers, Kes, and Dexta Daps.

World Beats on May 9 drew one of the festival’s youngest and most globally connected audiences, headlined by Tems and Ella Mai. Reflecting on her first visit to Saint Lucia, Ella Mai said she was “really excited” to experience the island firsthand, adding that moments like these highlight just how universal music is and “how far music can travel,” while expressing gratitude for the warm reception she received during her stay.

Tems also praised the island experience, describing Saint Lucia as “beautiful” and “incredible,” as she highlighted everything from the people and atmosphere to the food and scenery, noting that she had been “so happy” to spend time on the island both on and off the stage.

Sunday night’s finale also featured celebrated performers Billy Ocean and Beverley Knight, adding further star power to the closing spectacle.

Antoine noted that beyond entertainment, the festival continues to create meaningful opportunities for Saint Lucian creatives, dancers, musicians, and performers to share major stages alongside international acts, helping to increase exposure and foster growth within the local creative industry. With attendance figures continuing to rise and international attention expanding year after year, organizers are now evaluating ways to further expand the festival, including venue capacity and the overall structure of the event, to accommodate increasing demand in future editions.
